To start adding music to Mom's iPod, you will first need to drag music into her designated playlist. You can drag songs either one by one or as a group (by selecting the first song you want, holding shift and clicking the last song you want to highlight).
Note: You will always need to drag songs into the playlist found underneath the Playlists section on the left side of iTunes, not underneath Devices.

Step 2: Syncing Mom's iPod Playlist to her actual iPod
Next you will need to sync the music you have put into Mom's iPod Playlist so that it actually goes onto her iPod. Make sure the iPod is plugged in (duh) and is showing up on the left side under Devices. Click where it says Sharon's iPod and you will find a summary of what is on it and how much space is left. Clicking Sync in the bottom right corner will start syncing the music onto her iPod. Remember, you need to do this anytime you put music on or take music off of her iPod. When the sync is complete (it will say so at the top), remember to eject the iPod before disconnecting it.
